Kuna Yala is an autonomous territory or 'comarca' off the coast of Panama, inhabited by the Kuna indigenous people. The name translates as 'Kuna mountain' or 'Kuna land' in the Kuna language. It is here just a handful of miles from the mainland, that one can step into a truly different world, met with such warmth and unique philosophies that can only humble someone form the 'western world' In the days I spent living with the Kuna people I learnt so much more about real life and its real necessities. A humble and subsistent existence, fuelled with lobster, sunshine, coconuts and appreciation.
